What is that?

Welcome back!

I look out my window, and what do I see?
White flakes of snow falling down on the city.
I think of snow plows, scrapers and more.
I think of insurance quotes, and opening the door.
I think of snow angels, snow balls, and slush.
The next thing I know, my husband says shush.
He doesn’t like snow, he just hates the cold.
He wants me to shut up and not open the door.
I want to go sledding, I want to play.
He says wait for tomorrow, don’t go today.
I wait for tomorrow, and open the door.

There ain’t no snow, it melted away. :(

Raining

Friday, January 29th, 2010

It is raining right now., The lightning was oing on earlier so had to turn everything off. No fun.

Went out and got soggy. At least I didn’t ge the carpet soggy when I came it. If it was tile flooring, it would be easier to clean up, but this apartment has carpeting right near the front door.

some of the apartments are without power right now. The electric company is circling the block trying to figure out where the interruption is so they can fix it. Meanwhile, people are not happy. We are one of the few that have not lost power this time. That’s cool, except for the fact that we had to turn everything off because of the lightning. Oh well, at least we are dry.

We got rain

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

If you live in Central Texas, you know that the title of this article is WAY understated. We got rain, then more rain, then it down poured.

Some areas ended up getting flooded. Salado Texas had quite a problem, but Thank God, no one got hurt. The town is open again. The rain has gone down stream. I hope that it does not cause problems to who ever gets the water next.

It is said on the TV, if you do not like the weather, just wait and it will change. YUP

Seasons Change

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Yup, everyone know that. Not a whole lot of people actually pay attention to it except for whether or not they have to wear a coat when they go out.

One thing I know the apartment manager where we live does is to change the furnace filters for each season. It does help with the AC bill and in the winter it does help with the heating bill.

What about with peoples’ cars? Don’t they need to have things changed there too? I guess so. Most of the time we don’t worry about that for each year we might be driving a different car or vehicle. Not new, just changed out for a different one. If old cars are finally taken off of the road, what will poor people drive? The new cars do not seem to last as long as the older models. Talk about a change of seasons.

Well, it hasn’t happened yet.

I am talking about rain here. Or, should I say lack of rain.

I have no desire to roast, but I wonder about our electric bill. We live in an apartment that is very well insulated, so it isn’t as bad as it could be. The central air does a good job cooling, as I said , it takes electricity.

Heat Wave

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

The heat wave is continuing.

We have been asked to cut down on electricity.

In Florida, the NASA program has had to hold off on a launch. Too bad they cannot send the rain our way.

It rained today

Monday, April 13th, 2009

That might not seem very news-worthy. Our area has been having trouble with a lack of rain.

When I got up today and saw the wet sidewalks, I felt joy and happiness. It wasn’t much rain, but every little bit does help.

I heard on the news about people who had been hit with bad storms and tornadoes. I am thankful that those bad storms by-passed us. I just wish that people had not been hurt by them. Those victims need food, medicine, clothes, and shelter. In one town alone, over 300 homes were blasted off the face of the earth. Mena, Arkansas was one of those places that hit so hard. Arkansas is a state that does not have a lot of resources itself. Those people need help.

It’s Raining

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

It is raining outside. I wouldn’t want it to rain INSIDE, although we have lived in a place where that happened.

The fact that it is raining is a very POSITIVE thing. We have been very dry here in Texas lately, and there are a lot of burn bans all over the state. It would have to rain steadily for a while in order to make any difference in the way the ground has dried out. The farmers in this area really need the rain that is happening right now. I hope that none of them lose their crops. Bad financial news is all over the country. The last thing that anyone would need is for food prices to go up any more.

I am hoping that this rain will end up being beneficial in the long run.

Monday, Monday

Monday, January 26th, 2009

i do not have anything against Mondays as a whole, they just happen once a week after all. However, for those in the work force, they are the start of another day of work that will last all week.

This week is just another week, too. The weather is trying to drive everyone here nuts is all. It keeps flip flopping back and forth from warm to cold. Now there are winter weather advisories out for our area of Texas. Just north of where I live they have ice storm advisories. Oh joy….not.

Oh well, that’s life. :)
At least it is not boring.

Fog?

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Every where you hear sounds of Christmas. Christmas carols, decorations, food, it should feel like Christmas. Instead, it feels like London. It’s foggy outside !

Am I pouting? Of course nnn……. well, maybe I am pouting. Where I grew up there was snow on the ground in December. Here in Texas, rarely. Of course there has been ice in some places, and that can be dangerous. Snow can be too, when it is too much snow. I lived in Florida for a while. Rain, sun, rain, cold, rain, palm trees, pine trees, sand spurs, flat tires on cars and on bicycles, Christmas did not feel like Christmas. I should quit complaining.

I am away from the sand spurs. Pine trees have a nice scent. Snow and ice can be dangerous when there is too much of it. Unfortunately you can’t arrange for the snow and ice to be only on the grass and trees. When the snow and ice come down, it falls every where. Still…..fog? I know it is not the weatherman’s fault. He does not control the weather. Maybe one of these days scientists might figure out a way to control it a little. Of course the way these things go, the hurricanes would go to Alaska, and the blizzards would go to Hawaii. OY VEY.

I should leave these things alone. Still…..fog? I need a fog knife. :)
